I enjoyed discovering different types of fossils that were embedded in the rocks and sediment throughout the park.

On my first morning, I decided to take a kayak out and explore the lake. The crystal-clear water revealed secrets that had been hidden for thousands of years; I felt like a time traveler discovering what the glacier had left behind.
Fishing was another popular activity at Buckhorn State Park. You could find people fishing all along the shoreline and in boats out on the lake.
My family and I spent a day fishing from the banks, and it was one of our favorite memories from our stay there. We were able to catch some large fish that would have been too deep for us to reach with our kayaks! Although it wasn’t easy, we loved competing with nature and seeing who could catch the biggest one!
